Welcome to my page! I am Brian Miller, born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1981. I have been with my wife, Jamie, since 1999, and together we are proud parents of a son and a daughter. I am excited to share my journey and connect with you all!
His Story
Brian is a familiar face for some, having served as the CDL Coordinator for the Indiana Department of Transportation's (INDOT) Fort Wayne District. He played a key role in developing and implementing the statewide CDL program, which is now in use across the entire state and used by other municipalities. His expertise and dedication have made a lasting impact on the transportation community.
Brian was honored to serve as keynote speaker at the Purdue Road School in 2023. He shared valuable insights about Indiana's CDL program and discussed the impactful contributions he has made for the state. His dedication to improving transportation and education in Indiana resonated with audience, inspiring many to take part in similar initiatives.
As Brian prepares to retire from INDOT in early 2025 after a decade of dedicated service, he is excited to announce his new venture, a CDL school. Drawing on his experience as a diesel mechanic and district CDL coordinator, Brian aims to provide invaluable resources for the agency, municipalities, and local companies. His commitment to enhancing the CDL training landscape will ensure that future drivers are well-equipped for success. Brian has collaborated extensively with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) to enhance the state's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program. His efforts focus on providing valuable knowledge and resources, ensuring that the program meets the highest standards for safety compliance. Through these partnerships, Brian is committed to improving the quality and effectiveness of CDL training and regulation.
Brian's journey into the world of commercial motor vehicles began right after high school. He traveled with a motorsport’s safety team, traveling across the country to various racing events. With each mile, he gained invaluable experience and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and responsibilities that come with driving a CMV. Brian's passion for motor sports and commitment to safety make him a resolute professional in this exciting industry.
After spending the next nine years of traveling and operating delivery trucks, warehouse design work and consulting with other business owners on how to be more efficient and profitable in the logistics industry in between racing events in 2009, an exciting opportunity arose when the owners of the motorsport's safety company offered him and his wife the chance to purchase it. Seizing the moment, they established PRESS - Professional Racing Emergency Safety Services Inc., dedicated to delivering top-notch safety services and training to the motorsports industry. For several years, they poured their hearts into growing the organization. By 2015, after years of challenging work, Brian was ready to take a step back from the demanding travel schedule to focus on spending quality time with their two children as they grew up.
Brian made a significant career shift in 2015 opting for semi-retirement from the racing industry to fully utilize his commercial driver license. He joined the State of Indiana, starting as a highway technician with the Indiana Department of Transportation and quickly transitioned into a mechanic role, specializing in heavy trucks. Over the following years, Brian refined his skills as a road mechanic for INDOT, acquiring essential knowledge about the complex systems and functionalities of diesel trucks.
Brian played a pivotal role in the months leading up to the new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. As one of the first six CDL coordinators for the state, he worked closely with each district coordinator to help them establish themselves as Training Providers with the FMCSA. His expertise and guidance were instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition and compliance with the new regulations. Through his efforts, Brian has contributed to enhancing the quality of training across the state. Which brings us to where he is today!
